Every September in New York City’s Little Italy neighborhood, the Feast of San Gennaro unfolds for 11 days.

Along 10 blocks of Mulberry Street, a carnival atmosphere takes over and people gather day and night to celebrate Italian food, culture and music. The street, lined with restaurants, food stalls, kiddie rides and carnival games, becomes an open-air party.

What draws me to the Feast are the people who make it work: those who show up year after year to make the food, operate the rides, entice passersby with prizes, sell souvenirs and party absolutely give the Feast its flavor.

“The Feast” is a visual collection of some of those people.
